Win-win cooperation. Manuscript transfer between journals owned by Springer Nature and EMBO Press is possible. From Jan. 1, 2024, Springer Nature will cooperate with EMBO Press, revealed by Springer Nature, meaning that researchers can transfer their manuscripts between journals owned by the two presses. EMBO Journal, EMBO Reports, EMBO Molecular Medicine and Molecular Systems Biology are known to publish high-value articles with important advances in the fields of global biology and biomedical sciences. These four journals will be included in the Springer Nature’s leading portfolio of around 600 fully OA journals (including Nature Communications), as well as over 1,700 hybrid journals (including Nature and the Nature research titles). The two presses will simultaneously promote OA and Open Science. This follows the recent decision by EMBO Press that all papers will be published with full gold OA from 2024 onwards to advance the global discoverability, transparency and availability of the published research achievements, and well-managed source data will be published in a fully reproducible manner. This is also the persistent commitment of Springer Nature for promoting OA. Harsh Jegadeesan, Chief Publishing Officer of Springer Nature, said, “I am delighted to welcome EMBO Press to Springer Nature and look forward to working together to advance equitable and market-leading Open Science and Open Access policies. This common goal, along with our shared focus on improving the research publishing experience, will accelerate our efforts to help address the world’s urgent challenges.” Bernd Pulverer, Head of Scientific Publishing at EMBO, commented:“We support selective quality-focused publishing and Open Science equally in order to develop synergistic approaches for the efficient dissemination of reproducible science. Through our partnership with Springer Nature we can expand our approach of one review/one revision publishing with consultative transfers to and from a larger network of journals. Full Open Access benefits readers everywhere, while we will ensure that equitable financial models also preserve access to all authors of quality research.” This cooperation is conducive to expansion of one review/one revision publishing, and consultative transfers to and from a larger network of journals. Full OA benefits readers everywhere, and the two presses will ensure that equitable financial models also preserve access to all authors of quality research. A report published last year revealed that authors who publish in a Springer Nature fully OA journal benefit from:
